Pirates tie club record with 7 home runs in 14-2 rout of Mets

 T

The Pittsburgh Pirates had a fantastic night at the ballpark on Friday! They crushed the New York Mets 14-2 in a game that saw them hit a record-breaking number of home runs.

A Night of Home Runs

The Pirates tied a team record by hitting a whopping seven home runs throughout the game. This was so many that they even said they ran out of fireworks for their usual post-home run celebrations! This isn't just bragging either; the Pirates later confirmed on social media that they genuinely used up all their fireworks during the game.

Strong Pitching by Skenes

While all the attention might be on the home runs, the Pirates' starting pitcher, Paul Skenes, shouldn't be forgotten. This rookie pitcher had a great game, pitching for seven innings and only allowing two runs. He struck out eight batters and showed he has a variety of pitches to keep hitters guessing.

Lots of Support for Skenes

Skenes' strong pitching was a big help to the Pirates, and their bats provided even more support. It seems that whenever Skenes starts, the Pirates' offense comes alive. This game was a great example, with all 14 of the Pirates' runs coming from home runs – the most runs they've ever scored in a game where all the runs came from home runs.

An Exciting Night at PNC Park

The win over the Mets was only the second sellout crowd of the season at PNC Park, the Pirates' home stadium. Skenes' pitching and the record-breaking home runs definitely had the crowd excited, with the fans erupting in cheers when he struck out the last batter.

This game was a memorable one for the Pittsburgh Pirates, with incredible pitching, record-breaking hitting, and a ton of runs. It's a night that Pirates fans are sure to be talking about for a long time!
